Message from the President
Welcome to the Arkansas Academy of Audiology!
I would like to say a huge "Thank You!" to the founders and members of ArAA for your vision, support and participation that have brought ArAA to it's current position! I am honored to be a part of this community of audiologists!! If you are considering becoming a member, we would love to have you join us in the cause of advocating for the field of audiology, helping us promote audiology to the public and continuing to develop and carry out the best practices of our ever changing field.
A few areas of focus that we are aiming to explore include improving services for young adults with impairments that are aging out of youth coverage, and fostering relationships among audiologists across the state to strengthen the network of hearing health care. We are also considering resources that we can provide to medical doctors and their patients to help understand the differences between OTCs and prescription hearing aids, and how to access audiologists to receive additional hearing help. One last need that has been mentioned involves student mentoring and positive preceptors. If you are willing to share your audiology wisdom and experience with a student or two, let us know and we can put you in touch with the right people.
Now, whether you are new to ArAA or a loyal member, be sure to enjoy all the benefits!! I encourage you to access our member resource page, engage with our facebook page, and we would love to see you at our in person conference in the spring! Stay tuned for conference details and other CEU opportunities and community events! I am looking forward to a fun, productive year with ArAA!! See you soon!
Best regards,
Sommer Ballard, Au.D
